Much less frequently visited than Giza or Saqqara but this is to the advantage of those who make the effort – the Bent and Red Pyramids are almost as large and impressive as the two largest at Giza, and complemented by the Black Pyramid of the Middle Kingdom, but the site is generally empty of visitors, giving a much better sense of what it might have been like to visit before mass tourism… Also the site of some beautiful palm groves and a lush, green, now dried-up lake.
