Egypt’s capital and the place for travellers to familiarise themselves with the local culture and, in the past, gain permits, buy suitable clothing & provisions and find a boat for the journey up the Nile. And to see the sights: the mosques of Ibn Tulun, Sultan Hassan, al-Rifai, Mohamed Aly and many others, to visit the Old City with its great bazaar the Khan el-Khalili, and to marvel at the incredible skyline.
